Mayo SPCA
Mayo SPCA is urgently seeking homes for rescued dogs, pups, cats, and kittens, some of which can be seen here, but others in need can be viewed on the website www.mayospca.com. If you can help by offering a rescued animal a permanent or temporary homes, by becoming a volunteer or member then please call 094 963 1888 or 086 803 2592. Telephone lines are manned seven days a week from 10am to 5pm but are very busy. If your call is unanswered then please leave a message and it will be returned as soon as possible.
Dog days of summer
The 4th Annual Dog Days of Summer event takes place at the Studio from July 21 to 23 July 2011. This year the event will support Inistioge Puppy Rescue and Irish Cavalier Rescue.

An organisation which provides a dog rescue and adoption service is appealing to people to support its fundraising walk later this month in Connemara.
Pedigree adoption drive raises €4k for dog shelter
The third annual Pedigree Adoption Drive has raised €4,000 for A Dogs Life in Co Kilkenny. Pedigree announced the success of the 2010 campaign in raising much needed funds for the care of homeless dogs in Ireland.

While only 49 of the 170 dogs abandoned in Mayo in 2008 were re-homed, 62 fewer dogs were put down and 32 fewer dogs were abandoned than in 2007. These recent statistics released by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government show the positive effect the annual Pedigree Adoption Drive campaign is having on raising the awareness of dog abandonment in Ireland.
